Kimberly Beary anchors weekend newscasts for WOWK-TV in the Charleston-Huntington Market.
Kimberly reports on education issues effecting children of all ages in West Virginia.
The West Virginia Broadcasting Association has honored the 10 year veteran broadcast
journalist over the years for both her investigative and breaking news stories. Her
investigative reporting on a contaminated neighborhood has earned recognition among
her peers.
Through consistent and strong news judgment, Kimberly is an avid newsroom leader who
strives for excellence with each broadcast. Please take a minute and look around to learn more about the Long Island, New York
native and her work.

In 2006, Kimberly Beary obtained a masters of science degree from West Virginia University
in integrated marketing communications. She completed her undergraduate studies at the State
University of New York at Cortland College.
While college offered her mass communication skills, staff at WNBC and Long Island News 12
mentored Kimberly in broadcast news. Kimberly helped launch Madison Square Garden’s MetroGuide
in New York City before returning to the news industry.
Kimberly was awarded the Best Investigative Reporter in 2000 from the West Virginia Associated
Press Association for her series of reports on a contaminated neighborhood. It was her first
series work, and certainly not her last to gain attention.
You can often find Kimberly shining a spotlight on those challenges and troubles of the education
system. From highlighting a county’s two hour school bus ride problems to tips on how to make sure
children get the help they need to achieve, Kimberly’s keen sense of community rights, needs, and
desires has resulted public change.
Well versed as a general assignment reporter, Kimberly also covers police, politics and the court
system. Every newsroom has one—a go to person. When the chips are down, Kimberly is tapped to lead
the team through. She’s held that role throughout her professional career. No matter the challenge,
Kimberly not only meets it but delivers an exceptional product.
